Cancer fellowship
PA Auckland The Auckland division of the Cancer Society has established a $25,000 a year research fellowship as a memorial to the late Professor Bruce Cain, who was director of the society’s research laboratory for 25 years. The Bruce Cain memorial post-doctoral fellowship will be open to local or overseas candidates. The successful applicant will work for a minimum of two years in the
field of chemistry, cell biology, or tumour biology, at the Auckland laboratory. The name of the successful applicant will be announced at the end of April. Professor Cain, who died in January, was world-re-nowned for his work on the development of the anti-can-cer drug, meta-amsa. Earlier this year an international research award worth $lOOO was announced to commemorate Professor Cain.
