Minister of Broadcasting on the introduction of frequency modulation (FM) broadcasting in' New Zealand) the Broadcasting Tribunal now invites persons or incorporated bodies who may be prospective applicants for sound radio warrants in respect of commercial FM broadcasting stations to be established in areas other than Auckland to notify their intention to apply for such warrants. Notification should take the form of a letter indicating possible station location and describing the approximate coverage area. Attention is drawn to the report and direction above mentioned, and the VHF FM Sound Broadcasting Committee 1978 Report.-These are all obtainable from Government Bookshops and from, the Government Printer, Wellington. Lodging notification does not constitute a commitment to proceed with an application for a warrant. It is intended to assist the Tribunal to assess priorities for the introduction of commercial FM broadcasting. . - ■ The Tribunal intends after January 22.1982 to fix the order in which applications will be called for commercial FM stations progressively through New Zealand.
