Hewson tops half-century for tour

NZPA staff correspondent Paris The Wellington full-back. Allan Hewson, was the leading points scorer for the All Blacks on their 10-match tour of France and Rumania, and his provincial teammate. Stu Wilson, was the top try scorer.

With his final penalty goal in the 18-6 second test win. Hewson topned the half-cen-tury and will return home having scored 51 points from nine penalty goals, nine conversions, and two dropped goals Wilson's position as leading try scorer with five to his credit is all the more remarkable because he had not scored at all until the sixth match of the tour, against the French Barbarians at Bayonne

The total of three tries scored by the other wmgers; Bernie Fraser the got his two in the first match at Constanta; and Fred. Woodman is an indication of the limited chances they received from an All Black midfield tightly restricted by French defences

WILSON . . . top try-scorer The All Blacks scored 157. points, coptorising 21 tries (one a penalty try), 11 conversions. 13 penalty goals, and four dropped goals.

They had 99 points scored against tnem. the most disturbing factor being the eight tries which poor tackling allowed opposition sides to score.
