Radio Pacific commentaries
PA I" - ' Wellington Radio Pacific has been cleared by the New Zealand Racing Conference to broadcast live commentaries. The conference’s executive, which met in Wellington, said the approval related only to rights. Each individual club still has the autonomy to grant authority or otherwise for its meetings. Up to 14 months ago Radio New Zealand had held exclusive rights to race broadcasts. Its sports chief, Ron Findlay, would not comment.
Radio Pacific’s move to broadcast was initiated by the station itself. It already covers live greyhound meetings from Mount Smart. Auckland, as well as providing some racing services.
The New Zealand Racing Conference said it did not envisage this move as a step to replace the Radio NewZealand racing service.
