Avonside I, Riccarton I and Linwood I kept their title chances alive with wins in the third round of the summer interclub table tennis at the Selwyn Street hall. The trio remained unbeaten, although Riccarton only edged out Avonside 111, 7-5. after some stiff resistance from Avonside’s Brian Wilson. For Riccarton. the experienced senior player. Colin Tipper, won all his three singles. Avonside I. fielding the New Zealand women’s champion, Jan Morris, as a substitute for Bill Scott, easily beat Riccarton II in suite of a fighting performance from Riccarton’s Graham Lamb. Lamb won two singles and was narrowly beaten in the third. Burnside’s Grant McCarroll kept his unbeaten singles record intact against Linwood 11. Results.—Avonside I 9, Riccarton II 3 Singles: M.
