Hilarious Guest to meet Enterprise
By
G. K. YULE
The meeting between Hilarious Guest, Enterprise and other talented three-year-olds in the Courier Systems Championship will be one of the highlights at Addington Raceway this evening.
After a dismal showing on Cup day, Hilarious Guest showed her true form when she won the 3200 m Cashmere Handicap from a useful field of C 5 pacers in record time for her age. That suggested that perhaps she is at her best when allowed to dictate the pace. From No. 5 at the barrier she could well adopt front-running tactics once more. . Enterprise, a failure at Waikouaiti at his previous start, made no race of the Courier Systems Stakes No. 2 for the 2600 m and had plenty in reserve when finishing three lengths and a half in front of Lil Abner and Ansett. Some of his efforts have been equal to the best recorded by any of his rivals in this evening’s race and it will be surprising if he fails to make a big run. Mister Wood Chips caught the eye when he won in style on Cup day, beating Matai Bret and Boulder Creek, two of his rivals once more. The Timely Knight colt won with great authority and the rise in class in this field should not keep him out of the finish.
Norton was a shade disappointing on Cup day, but his best efforts have been most attractive and a placing, or even a win by him will not be a surprise. Then there is the Welcome Stakes and Waikouaiti Stakes winner, Mel’s Boy, which has not started since his runaway
win on the southern course. He has drawn reasonably on the front line and could be capable of beating most in the event. Harvey’s Sister, Ansett, Portfolio and Matai Bret are others entitled to consideration in what is the first leg of the T.A.B. treble.
