Hearing aids
. Sir,—We are deaf students and rely heavily on our hearing aids. We are concerned about the supply of batteries and hearing aids once we leave school. At present batteries are supplied by the teacher ot the deaf at school, ana most of us receive new hearing aids from the School for the Deat in Christcnurch. When we leave school we must, buy our own batteries and hearing aids. These are very expensive. Each battery costs 60c and only lasts about three days. Each hearing aid costs about $l6O. This is a great expense to the deaf and often they give up wearing tneir aids as they cannot afford the batteries or new aids all the time so that they can work effectively in the hearing world. Why can’t we get help from someone? — Yours, etc., MIRI N D A ARMSTRONG, KEVIN SCHULTZ, MARK ROGERS. JOAN DAVIDSON, RICHARD ARNOLD. Nelson. November 17, 1981.
