Police plaques
PA Auckland The Commissioner of Police (Mr R. J. Walton) yesterday presented a plaque to (Auckland police staff for their efforts during the Springbok tour. Mr Walton, at.the annual Auckland police parade, congratulated all officers on their “sterling effort in the biggest operation in our police, history.”
Similar bronze plaques would be presented to all police districts, he said. The tour had clearly illustrated. the ability of the police to fulfil, the obligations, the law placed upon them, he;said. : Mr Walton also presented a certificate of merit to Constable G. D; Christian for his courage and initiative during a gang brawl at Henderson early this year.
