Sir.—Mr McLean is refreshingly frank regarding capital gains that farmers can expect the public of New Zealand to pay tor. His preference for border-dyke irrigation systems is matebed by "The 'Press ' announcemehcbi the beginning
of another big “giveaway" to farmers at Balmoral. This time 25 farmers will share in a huge capital gain from the $10.2 million to be, spent. “Big is bountiful."—Yours, etc..
