Violent protest
NZPA Jerusalem Violent protests by young Palestinians in the occupied West Bank of the Jordan against the change-over from Israeli military to civilian rule, entered its second week yesterday with further arrests of schoolchildren and the start of a hunger strike by scores of university students.
Students at Najah University in Nablus W’ere staging a sit-in hunger strike on the campus this week-end to protest against the closing for two months of the Palestinian university at Bir-Zeit by the military on November 4 after demonstrations against the administrative change-over by its 2000 students. -
The hunger strikers have said they intend to continue their • fast “as long as is necessary,” Palestinian sources indicated. Elsewhere in Nablus, the police arrested boys from Palestinian high schools who had allegedly stoned vehicles during a street demonstration. the sources said,.
