PROFILE: Blue-collar suburban electorate, pockets of low-rental housing but a trend towards more expensive homes and town houses. 1978 result: Labour, 11,279; National, 7600; Social Credit, 1909; Values, 577. An increased Labour majority of 3679 continued the progression to a safe Labour seat. National needs a swing of 9.8 per cent to win.
