H. Berry expands
Henry Berry, Ltd. has acquired Professional Uniform Co., Ltd. of Wellington, for an undisclosed cash sum.
Approval of the deal has been received from the Examiner of Commercial Practices. indicating the consideration exceeded $1 million. This is a further diversification move for the Auck-land-based wholesale merchant. Earlier this year it acquired for cash and shares Hylin Holdings. Ltd, in a $2.6 million cash and shares deal.
Hylin is a big client of Professional Uniform’s products. Professional Uniform, a privately-owned manufacturer of uniforms and protective clothing for commercial and industrial use. with a staff of more than 80 has cutting rooms in Wellington, including shops, factories in Upper Hutt and Blenheim, and other premises in Christchurch. Palmerston North. Rotorua, and Auckland.
It distributes products through clothing wholesalers and its own retail outlets.
The Henry Berry directors said they see the move as a natural extension of the uniform and clothing hire services offered by Hylin and they note that Henry Berry has’ traded with Professional Uniforms since it was founded in 1946. It will continue as an independent member of the group. Earlier this year Henry Berry bought for cash a 50 per cent interest in Tepco Air Control Systems, Ltd, an Onehunga manufacturer of electrostatic recipitator aircleaning equipment.
