15 on drugs charges
PA Invercargill Fifteen people appeared in the District Court at Invercargill yesterday on charges relating to drug raids on Thursday. Dawn raids were made in Invercargill, Riverton, and bluff, as well as Christchurch, Nelson, and Napier. As well as drugs, the police seized $lO,OOO worth of stolen property. Before Judge Reid at Invercargill four women and 11 meh faced a total of 33 charges, which included sell-
ing and possessing cannabis, selling a class A drug DMA. receiving stolen property, bookmaking and possessing an unlawful weapon. All but one were remanded without plea, mostly to November 17. Two men remained in custody and the others were granted bail. A man who pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing cannabis was fined $l2O, and ordered to pay court costs of $2O. His name was suppressed.
