Crowd and betting up
A near-record crowd of 21,669 for a Show Day bet a record $1,169,859 at Addington Raceway. Last year the crowd was 20,545. The oncourse betting was up by $146,150 on last year’s total, which was the first time the million-dollar mark had been exceeded on the second day of the New Zealand Cup meeting.
Off-course betting rose by $170,761 to $895,298.
