Trade posts announced
PA Wellington Four new assistant secretaries have been appointed in the Trade and Industry Department after retirements of other senior staff.
Mr Irving Gain aged 43, at present the Minister (commercial) and senior Trade Commissioner in Tokyo, will become assistant secretary (central services). Mr Peter Donovan will become assistant secretary (commerce). He is at present Minister and senior Trade Commissioner in Canberra and has also held posts in Sydney. Melbourne, and Paris.
Mr Jack Liversage will become assistant secretary (industrial development). In 1974, he became the director of the industry development and productivity section of the department. Mr Gerard Thompson, who is 39, will be assistant secretary (trade policy). He has spent several years in senior posts in the Trade Policy Division, as well as serving in London and Paris.
