Pleasing progress on development

The new District Commissioner of Works, Mr R. D. Grant, said this week that the Ministry was rather pleased with the way that irrigation development was proceeding on farms in the area of the Waiau Plains irrigation scheme, even though the scheme was far

from being completed. He said that on-farm development was a good year z ahead of expectations, while distribution works were up to time. Some of the farmers had been getting very good results with the water, he said.
