Landrace dominate

Landrace and Welsh breeds were very strong in the pig section this year, said the judge, Mr J. Schenkel, of Cambridge. He was particularly pleased with the high standard of entries in the remaining pig section. “The top sow, Brownlee’s Lass, owned by G. Timperley and Sons, was quite outstanding,” he said. The standard of entries was equal to that of any other show he had judged, the best feature being the good quality of carcases. No common fault had shown through during judging. Mr Schenkel was also pleased with the standard of entries in the pork and bacon section, which was held on Tuesday.
