Chad attack

NZPA ' Paris Fighting has erupted again in eastern Chad between Government forces and the supporters of a rebel former Defence Minister, Hissene Habre. Agence France-Presse reporting from the capital, Ndjamens, said the fighting broke Out as the estimated 10,000 Libyan troops in Chad continued their withdrawal from the country. The Libyans were called in nearly a year ago by President Goukouni Oueddei to help him defeat Mr Habre’s troops, in a stalemated civil war. President Goukouni last week asked the Libyans to leave the country, to be replaced by a seven-nation African peace-keeping force. Ministers of the seven nations gathered in Nairobi yesterday to complete details of the organisation of the force. Radio reports said yesterday that a Chadian Minister had conceded that it was a mistake to ask the Libyans to leave before the African force had arrived.
