Nails puncture tyres
Five cars had tyres punctured early yesterday after youths scattered Z nails over a Moncks Bay road to hinder pursuers, according to the Lyttelton police. A few minutes earlier, a bottle had been thrown through a window of a house in Cliff Street, Moncks Bay. The three-pronged Z nails, which have a spike facing upwards, no matter which way they fall, took a heavy toll of passing cars. Two youths will appear in
the Children and Young Persons Court at a later date on charges of wilful damage relating to both the broken window and the nails. The Lyttelton police would like to hear from any other motorists who had punctures caused by the nails.
