FTC WESTLAND CATCHMENT BOARD AND REGIONAL WATER BOARD THIS is a public notice issued in accordance with Section 34 of the Soil Conservation and River Control Amendment Act 1959 to occupiers of land and their contractors and refers to those areas of the Board’s District where slopes exceed twelve (12) degrees. The Westland Catchment Board declares that the cutting, felling, burning, destroying or clearing of scrub, trees or undergrowth, or the removal of timber from this land or the formation of roads, tracks or landings for any purposes are practices likely to facilitate soil erosion or floods or cause deposits in water courses. The Board declares that no person shall engage in any of the foregoing practices within the above stated areas of the Board's District without the written consent of the Board. Unless sooner revoked this notice will remain in force for two years from the date of this notice. Penalties are provided in the act for any contravention of this notice which is issued by direction of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council and confirmed by the Minister of Works and Development.
