Growth strategy
Sir,—l read with interest (“The Press,” November 9) National’s claim that it is “firmly committed to a path of growth but equally committed to conservation.” A quick perusal of the National Development Act and the National Development Amendment Bill soon establishes just how “equal” that commitment is. Indeed, one need only turn to the front page of today’s issue to see how unconvincing this claim is. There it is reported that the Government proposes to curtail further the power of the Commission for the. Environment to comment on development projects. Actions speak louder than words.—Yours, etc., L. TAYLOR. November 9, 1981.
