M.P. launches second book
The Labour member of Parliament for Papanui, Mr M. K. Moore, has made his second foray into the publishing world with the publication of his book, “Beyond Today.” The 96-page soft covered book discusses a sustainable economy, resource management and control, and reviews the history of environmental politics in New Zealand. “Caring about the environment must go further than having a Litter Council run by brewery and packaging companies, and putting out pretty posters for schools,”
Mr Moore writes in the book’s introduction. “We need to shift our vision to the economic battleground because that is where we will win or lose environmental issues.” Mr Moore did not hold an official launching of the book. It would sell for $5 through some book shops and Labour Party outlets, he said. About 1000 copies of the book had been printed, and about 400 or 500 would have to be sold to meet the printing costs, which had been met by the Labour Party. Mr Moore’s first book, “On Balance,” had sold fairly well and had “broken even.”
