Long Cottage, an American colonial-style property on the corner of Papanui Road and Rugby Street, sold at auction on Monday for $140,000. The two-storey “gentleman’s residence" sits on a section of 1720 sq. m, and has a well-established, landscaped garden. Mr G. Rawstron auctioned the property for Binns,' Barber and Keenan. No. 52 Winchester Street, Merivale, a two . bedroom brick house on a 607 sq. m section, sold at auction on Monday for $llO,OOO. The Government valuation is $49,500. The house is about 25 years old, and has a separate diningroom, a conservatory. and a large kitchen with a walk-in pantry. About 65 people attended the auction, and bidding started at $95,000. The auctioneer was Mr B. Nottingham, of Perpetual Real Estate. A three bedroom, weatherboard house with an iron roof at 5 Milton Street, Spreydon, sold at auction on Tuesday for $31,000. The Government valuation (1979) is $lB,OOO. The house has a panelled hallway leading to a lounge with an open fireplace, and a kitchen-di-nette. Two tool sheds and a double garage are included in the 708 sq. m property. Mr W. W. Anderson, of Geo. Anderson, Smiths City Market, was the auctioneers.
