Farm power rebate widened

Parliamentary reporter The Government has extended the South Island electricity rebate to electricity costs incurred by dairy farmers in milk cooling systems on farms. Now, as well as the 25 per cent rebate on irrigation power, South Island dairy farmers will qualify for a 20 per cent rebate on power charges for milk cooling systems on farms. But the criteria set for the scheme precludes the extension of the rebate to electricity used for other purposes on the farm, according to the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Maclntyre).
