Remand on arson count

PA Wellington One of two men accused of setting fire to the old Government Building in Wellington’s Lambton Quay on November 6 appeared in the District Court yesterday. His counsel, Mr Andrew Marshall, successfully sought interim suppression of name. The accused, aged 21, unemployed, was remanded without plea by Judge Pethig for two weeks. He was released on bail of $lOOO, with two sureties of $l5OO each, to appear again on November 23. He was also ordered to report to' the police three times weekly. Mr Marshall told the court that there were psychiatric matters needing investigation.
