Abbey Knight appeals at Invercargill today

Special correspondent Invercargill Abbey Knight and Effie Watt provide the Gore trainer, Maurice Kerr, with a strong hand in the Ossie Crooks Memorial Handicap, first leg of, the T.A.B. double at the Invercargill Trotting Club’s meeting at Ascot Park, Invercargill, today. Of the two talented halfsisters, perhaps Abbey Knight makes most appeal, but there promises to be little between the pair: Of their rivals, none appeal more than Vendetta, Happy Knight and Time Will Tell. Abbey Knight has started four times this time for two wins, a second and a third. She was successful at Gore and Forbury Park and was a. handy third last start at Invercargill a month ago. Effie Watt did well when runner-up at her last start at Forbury ' Park. She . has drawn well on the front .and should be prominent from the outset.

Vendetta, placed at both Invercargill and Gore earlier in the season, was duly rewarded with a winning run at Forbury Park. He confirmed he had trained on well when fourth on both days of the Oamaru meeting at Labour week-end. Time Will Tell did well when third at her last start at Oamaru on Labour Day. Happy Knight, which won first up at Forbury Park in September, has been placed at his last three starts, finishing fourth at his most recent appearance at Forbury Park. Selections:—
