OPEN LETTER TO THE — Prims Minister — Minister of Broadcasting — Chairman of Broadcasting Corporation or Your Local Member of Parliament Dear Sirs, We, the Public Citizens of New Zealand, wish to draw to your attention the increasing concern we feel for the twofold disrespect shown to us by the Broadcasting Corporation. 1. Despite continual requests by individuals and groups for less emphasis on crime, violence and immorality, the Corporation will give no indication or evidence that action is being taken to satisfy this public conern. S. The Corporation insists that it well reflects the attitudes of society, and in fact, that tne Good Taste and Decency to which it is obligated, is out of date, because the public now considers indecencies that were once unacceptable, are today, now, desired by viewers. All of this point of view held by the Corporation is in contradiction to the polls taken, which indicate that most of the responsible Public desire less crime, violence and immorality, and more cultural.educatipnal and character building material. It is only common sense that we become like the material to which we are exposed. Constructive and positive material will encourage good citizenship, and corrupt material will encourage anti-social behaviourl It is the wish of the undersigned that this imbalance be remedied, urgently, and we would appreciate your reply as to the steps you propose to help us achieve this goal. . Yours in sincerity \J\j on earth NAME can ADDRESS I do A PHONE 0 CUT OFF It would be appreciated If you could advise us of your response In sending off the above letter, c/- PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS WELLINGTON.
