Methodists meet
Church union is expected to be one of the main topics of discussion during the 1981 Methodist Conference, which is being held in Christchurch. Nearly 350 delegates from round New Zealand are attending the conference, which began last evening and which will end on Thursday. The delegates will discuss the 1971 “Plan for Union” on Wednesday. They are expected to reaffirm their willingness to unite with other
churches on the basis of the plan.
Earlier this year 79 per cent of members of th(> Methodist Church who voted were in favour of union with other churches.
Six men and women will be ordained in to the Methodist ministry tomorrow. At least one of the people to be ordained is part of a husband-and-wife team ministry. 5 ,
