Maths prizes to N.I.

Pupils from Auckland Grammar won the first two

prizes in a national mathematics competition decided in Christchurch last evening. . Graham Coop won a $3OO account at the Bank of New Zealand for first prize. Howard Wong-Toi won a $2OO account for second and the third-place-getter, Andrew Colman, of Christchurch

Boys’ High School, received a $lOO account.

More than 2000 pupils from 114 schools entered the competition, which was organised by the Canterbury Mathematical Association. After a preliminary test, 20 finalists were invited to Christchurch to sit a 90minute paper to decide the winner.
