NZPA-Reuter Abidjan Tima Salonen, of Finland, driving a Datsun, held an eight-minute lead over the Toyota Celica of Per Eklund, of Sweden, at the half-way stage, of the six-day Ivory Coast car rally yesterday. The world championship
leader. Guy Frequelin, of France, was sixth in his Peugeot 504 and. his title challenger, Ari Vataneri, of Finland, remained fifteenth in a Ford Escort. Only 16 of the 51 starters were still in contention at the end of the 1370 km second stage.
