Man on murder charge
PA •' Tauranga A Pokeno farmer was remanded without plea on a charge of murder when he appeared in the District Court at Tauranga yesterday. Brian Owen Wright, aged 27, was charged with having murdered Michelle Ailleen Sweeney on October 20 at Papamoa, neats Mount Maunganui. Judge Wilson remanded Wright in custody to November 3 for a psychiatric report. Ms Sweeney, a solo mother with one child, died in Tauranga Hospital after a shooting incident about 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the police. The Hamilton armed offenders squad was called out.
