World champion’s visit
PA Auckland The world long-distance swimming champion. Claudio Plitt, may attempt crossings of Cook Strait and Lake Taupo during his five-week visit to New Zealand early next year. The’ 26-year-old Argentinian will be here from January 12 to February 22 as
a guest of the New Zealand Endurance Swimming Society, said the society’s president. Mr Darrell Shields, yesterday. Plitt will also swim in three events in the society's Mt Cook Line super-swim series. His stay coincides with races in Dunedin. Christchurch and Whakatane.
