‘Landmarks’

Sir,—The television programme "Landmarks" should not have been screened in its present form. Fletcher Challenge has promoted and funded this series and if it had been as stated, purely educational, it would have been a laudable effort. One programme of the series spent much time looking at the Aramoana site and development, and the Clutha hydro schemes. The programme shown on October 18 spent about 20 minutes exploring Fletchers involvement in the New Zealand economy from the 1930 s to today, and much time was spent showing the Fletcher Challenge logo and subsidiary offices and factories. If* this programme was educational, either other contributors to the economy should have been mentioned, or all names should have been left

out. As this did not happen, this programme was at least biased, at worst propaganda. More in line with oppressive government action, not enlightened democratic education.— Yours, etc:, ’ P. ADMORE. October 18. 1981.
