Retail sales up 3.8p.c.
The monthly survey of retail trade by the Statistics Department shows that, in August 1981, the total' value of sales was $757.9 million. After correction for/seasonal changes in purchasing patterns, and for, differing numbers of trading days in each month, sales, in’ August, 1981, increased by. '3.8, per cent compared with ?• the previous month. ’ /ij . After similar adjustments, the sales for August 1981, were 23.2 per cent higher than those for August. 1980.
