Upset soccer win

The New Zealand women's soccer team yesterday moved into second equal position in the world women’s invitation tournament in Taipei with an upset 1-0 win over the previously unbeaten Mulan (Taiwan A’) side.
An elated manager-coach. Mr Dave Boardman. described the victory as “the best performance ever by a New Zealand women's soccer team." “I'm out of my skull." he said. “We are right in with a chance now."
Taiwan, the Asian Cup holder and winner of the recent Gothic Cup invitation tournament in Sweden, had previously beaten Thailand, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
Today is a rest day for the New Zealanders, who have three games remaining against the Netherlands. Thailand and the titleholder. Finland. In other matches Switzerland beat the Netherlands 30, West Germany beat Norway. 4-0. and Finland beat Thailand. 1-0. West Germany leads the tournament with seven points, followed by New Zealand and Mulan with six each, then comes Finland (5), Switzerland (4), Norway (3), Thailand (1) and the Netherlands (0). Mr Boardman said that the New Zealanders had kept to the 4-3-3 combination used successfully in Sunday's 4-0 win over Norway, but Debbie: Leonardis had been given the special responsibility of’ marking Taiwan’s most dangerous forward. He said that the captain and sweeper. Marilyn Marshall, who missed the team's early games because of a thigh injury, had “played a blinder."
