World peace

Sir,—A timely essay competition for the youth of New Zealand resulted in the revelation that the main factor missing in this world is peace. They "naively” request that adults should show less aggression and, simply like each other. That other “naive” band of youngsters, the hippies of the '6os, preached a similar message. With Sadat assassinated, Africa and the Middle East in turmoil, and Reagan riding shotgun on his Administration’s foreign policy, I hope, without sounding too “platitudinous,” some people opt for peace and love, and not decimation. Are the young the only sane ones left?—Yours, etc., STEPHEN KNIGHT. October 13, 1981.
