Writ for $300,000
PA Wellington A Makara farmer, Tama Te Kapua Poata, has filed a writ in the High Court claiming a total of $300,000 damages against the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) for defamation. The claim relates to a statement by Mr Muldoon on August 25. The claim is in three parts each of $lOO,OOO. The first relates to publication by newspapers, the second to radio news broadcasts, and the third alleges a possible effect on the trial of Mr Poata on a charge of disorderly behaviour. No fixture has yet been made for the hearing.
