Man robbed of $2500 at motel
Christchurch detectives are investigating a complaint by a fencing contractor from Cheviot that he was attacked and robbed of $2500 in cash at his Cashel Street motel on Monday night. The man, aged 52.'t01d the police that he had been drinking at the Foresters Tavern in the afternoon and evening, and had later been visited at his motel unit by a man and a woman who had' apparently also been at the tavern. The man said that the pair had assaulted him and escaped with $2500. The police are also investigating the theft of $340 after burglars forced a floor safe at Taylors Dry Cleaners, Ltd, at 184 Armagh Street. Fitzgibbon Floor Coverings. Ltd, at 326 Cashel Street, was broken into on Monday night. The burglar or burglars took $3O from a petty cash box, then found the keys to the safe and removed $7O from that, according to the police.
