Maori doll for Queen
PA ' Wellington A Maori doll will be presented to the Queen for placing in the Royal doll collection at Windsor Castle when she visits New Zealand next month. The doll, ? made by Mr F. Kateley, of Wainuiomata, was handed to the GovernorGeneral (Sir David Beattie) at a ceremony at Government House, Wellington, yesterday. 1 The figure of the doll was made out of polyester resin and the garments for it made by traditional Maori methods. Mr Kateley was employed for 12 years by the Tourist and Publicity. Department where most of his work consisted of making geological models and other artistic displays for . the promotion of New Zealand overseas and domestically.
