The Society has a very important role in the New Zealand accounting profession to foster effective financial management in the community, control and regulate accounting standards, and develop the skills and interests of its members. As such we require a talented executive to direct research to these objectives in a most challenging period caused by the interaction of complex economic and social forces. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a major contribution to bringing about positive change. The person will be responsible for the planning, budgeting, staffing and the development of the Research Division. Aiso the person will provide research leadership and the servicing of activities such as the Accounting and Standards Board and specific research committees. Backup support services of secretarial, publications and library functions are available. The location is in Wellington City. REQUIREMENTS: • An in depth knowledge of financial accounting tneory and practice. • An ability and interest to significantly contribute to accounting standards. • A professional approach to research leadership. • An appreciation of overseas accounting developments. • Ability to plan, co-ordinate and organise research activities.
