Sir,—Being somewhat sick of New-Zealand sports after Saturday's events in' and out of Eden Park, I tuned in to the 8.8.C.’s sporting service. A cricket match was in progress at Lord’s before 60,000 spectators. all cheering, none carry-
ing placards or shouting, "racist pigs.” What were they all enjoying? Would you believe a New Zealander and a South African batting for Derbyshire, being bowled to by a Pakistani. A change of venue and we were in Rome, 60,000 people, none with crash helmets, all cheering the runners in a mile race. Would you believe, a New Zealander, a South African, a Kenyan and an Englishman. A flick of a switch for news and what- do we hear? Ceramco New Zealand and Outward Bound are heading for Cape Town, the first port of call in the Round the World yacht race. I hope that the people of Cape Town turn out in their thousands, placards, banners, etc., and tell the two yachts where to go.—Yours, etc., J. W. ROSTON, Upper Moutere. September 9. 1981.
