Springbok tour
Sir,—lf there is any truth in Mr Quigley’s statement that the publicity, surrounding the Springbok tour is good for New Zealand ("The Press,” September 4), this is, in my opinion, because the massive protest against the tour demonstrates that there are sufficient forces to counteract the apparent support for the apartheid system on the part of the Government. The protest movement. seems to be the only hope to restore our tarnished image overseas and to retain for New Zealand a respected place within the Commonwealth. — Yours, etc., PIETER H. de BRES. September 4, 1981.
