Cary Grant sues
Cary Grant, the actor, and his fifth wife, Barbara Harris Grant, have sued the “National Enquirer” for $l2 million, alleging that the weekly published libellous statements about their marriage, a lawyer for Grant has said. Carol Burnett, the comedienne, was awarded $1.6 million in damages last March in a libel suit against the “National Enquirer,” but the amount was later halved by a judge. Other suits filed against the paper, which specialises in publishing reports on the private lives of entertainers, are waiting to be heard in court —Los Angeles.
