Regular air link to Argentina
PA Wellington A regular air link with Buenos Aires across the Southern Ocean will begin on Sunday when an Aerolineas Argentinas Boeing 747 lands at Auckland. The arrival will not be entirely new, since the airline has made several flights to Auckland since Argentina’s President Vldela visited New Zealand last year. Aboard the first scheduled flight will be a delegation from Argentina on its way to a meeting in Hobart, expected to launch an agency to implement the convention on Antarctic •marine living resources. The Argentinan Ambassador to Wellington (Mr Alberto Aden), describing the first of the monthly flights as a major achievement, said it emphasised the importance of the first flight that the
delegation was being sent to Australia on the route. The Ambassador noted that New Zealand, and Argentina both claimed sovereignty over sectors of Antarctica and had taken similar positions over the convention.
