The New Zealand dollar was devalued again in August, by a small amount, according to the monthly Reserve Bank release of the exchange rate index. It shows that the August devaluation by the bank amounted to 0.3 per cent of the dollar’s value in June, 1979, when the index was established. This was a slightly smaller devaluation than in each of the three proceeding months. Total devaluations since June 1979 are now 11.9 per cent, and devaluations in the last 12 months have been 6 per cent.
