Dawn raid
Sir,—l agree with the letter by Bill Edmundson on the predawn raid on the black squatters outside Cape Town. I hope that people realise that apart from dogs used on mostly women and children, did anyone notice that the police were armed as they are when they confront black South Africans. If this is law and order I would like people to read an article by James Cameron, an English political correspondent quite a few years ago. The article stated: “They have it all but the jackboot.” I have met him myself and he was a widely travelled man as his position entailed. H. V. Morton's "In Search of South Africa" gives the true picture of the South Africa under the National Government. Mine is a moral stance and I am not a member of HART, but I have seen it for myself in South Africa and have no wish to return to the law and order there.—Yours, etc..
