Private Benjamin
:.\Goldie<Hawn stars in J “Private' Benjamin,” which starts at the Westend tomorrow.../-.■ She is a girl raised to want the simple things out of life — a big house, a pool, (nice' clothes, a live-in maid and a professional man for a husband. All of Goldie’s dreams come true and last for just over six hours. Her husband dies on the wedding night,
' leaving ouf bride a widow. Forced to take some control of her life, she naively trusts a slick army recruiter who makes army life sound like a three-week holiday. She enlists and finds fatigue instead of facials, and M-16s instead of manicures. Her recruiter also lied about another small detail — she can’t quit: If she is ever going to grow up, she might as well do it in combat boots.
