Moral issues

Sir,—Until now, the bitterest disputes in New Zealand have been between employers and employees in the form of strikes. In the Springbok tour controversy, both anti-tour and pro-tour groups largely based their case on moral principles, but the Government shirked making a decision on moral grounds and preferred to take a grubby electioneering stance. In view of the moral issues which will become increasingly vital during the 1980 s, I do not think that the present Government has the moral insight to provide the necessary leadership. — Yours, etc.. V. F. WILKINSON. August 17, 1981.
