Money for doctors

The funding of extra resident doctors at hospitals will be determined by negotiation. according to the Minister of Health (Mr Gair). Answering the Opposition spokesman on health. Dr M. E. R. Bassett, who said that hospital boards feared agreed levels of funding this year of $472,000 would not be maintained, Mr Gair said a level had been set. But it would be negotiated by boards and the Health Department on the same basis as hospital commissioning grants, namely subject to other financial requirements.
