‘Shattered’ says Ian Park

lan Park, the Christchurch Mogal United captain and one of the four players suspended for the rest of the season by the club coach, Terry Conley, before yesterday’s match with Gisborne City, declined to comment on the situation last night.

“I just feel shattered by the whole affair,” he said. (Park has played more than 160 times for United and has been with the club for nine years.) “Obviously, I would like to put the players’ case if an appropriate occasion can be made.

“It was a terrible position to be in, to watch the game from the sideline. Our hearts bled for the other players as they put up a great performance.”

Bobby Almond, who will join his New Zealand team colleagues in Auckland tomorrow for the World Cup match against Fiji next week-end, also had no comment to make, but only hoped the matter could be resolved.
